Benjamin Flaherty is a film director and writer.

His PSA ‘Nobody’s Memories’ for PFLAG was awarded a Silver Lion in Film at the 2015 Cannes Lion Festival. The following year his PSA ‘Keeping Farts Funny’ for Meredith’s Miracles was awarded the Bronze Lion. Beyond Cannes, his commercial work has been awarded at D&AD, One Show and Clio.

After attending a military Catholic high school, he received a BA in psychology and writing from Naropa University in Boulder, CO, a college originally founded by Allen Ginsberg and a Buddhist monk as a summer writing program in 1974. As his thesis, Ben wrote a film, based on a bedtime story his dad told him when he was young, Tuscaloosa. While not a great film by any stretch, he had never before been so certain about what he wanted to do with his life.

Self taught, Ben cut his teeth making films in NYC from 2003 – 2008, directing, shooting and editing content for brands like Nike, Vogue and Zac Posen. He was the editor on Lou Reed’s Berlin, a 2006 feature-length concert documentary directed by Julian Schnabel.

Since 2009, Ben has lived and worked in Berlin, Los Angeles and Chicago. In addition to his commercial work, he is currently developing two feature films.
